The Congress has, in the wee hours of Saturday, released another list of candidates for 34 Lok Sabha seats, including eight candidates for Tamil Nadu and one for Puducherry.
As many as nine candidates have also been named for the State with the largest representation in the Lok Sabha, Uttar Pradesh, followed by Maharashtra (five), Chhatisgarh (four), Jammu and Kashmir (three) and two seats each in Tripura and Odisha. The Congress has decided not to contest the Srinagar seat, stating it has been ‘left to National Conference’.
EVKS Elangovan has been selected for the Theni seat in Tamil Nadu and H Vasanthakumar has been selected for Kanniyakumari, among others.
In Telangana, Renuka Choudhary has been picked for the Khammam seat, while former actor Raj Babbar has moved from the Moradabad constituency to Fatehpur Sikri, with Imran Pratapgarhiya replacing him for the Moradabad contest.
For Maharashtra, the party has named Vinayak Bangade for the Chandrapur constituency, Subhash Zambad for Aurangabad and Suresh Kashinath Taware for Bhiwandi. Machhlindra Kamat has been picked for the SC seat of Latur and Vilas Keshavrao Autade has been fielded from Jalna.
