Campaign ban on Gujarat BJP chief

May 01, 2019 12:04 am | Updated 12:04 am IST - NEW DELHI

The Election Commission on Tuesday barred Gujarat BJP president Jitubhai Vaghani from campaigning activities for 72 hours for using “intemperate and abusive language and alleged violation of the MCC” at a public meeting in Surat on April 7.

Mr. Vaghani had also been restrained from giving any statement to the media.

The decision came about a week after the Lok Sabha elections in the State were over.
