Reflecting the BJP’s loss in the recent Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, none of the party’s 10 sitting MPs will be given a ticket this time round.

Party general secretary in charge of the State Anil Jain said this on record after a meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the BJP deliberating on Chattisgarh on Tuesday.

11 new faces

“BJP will change all sitting MPs in the State in this election, CEC has approved it. We will bring 11 new candidates,” Mr. Jain after the meeting.

Sources also said relatives of the sitting MPs too would not be considered and even former chief minister Raman Singh was out of the reckoning .

“The Chattisgarh unit has been given one day to come up with a fresh list of candidates,” said a source.

The CEC has been meeting to finalise tickets for at least 20 States. Core groups from Karnataka, West Bengal, Odisha and U.P. met the CEC on Tuesday
