Yet another lie on rural electrification, says Congress

The Congress on Wednesday dubbed as “yet another lie” the claim by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government that all villages in the country had been electrified.

Senior Congress leader Anand Sharma said Mr. Modi’s claim of achieving 100% village electrification is a “complete lie” and accused him of taking credit for work done by previous regimes.

‘Speak the truth’

Speaking to presspersons here, the former Commerce Minister said nearly five crore rural households have been still denied electricity. “Mr. Modi should speak the truth instead of telling lies to the people,” he said.

On Tuesday, Mr. Modi said electrification of all villages in the country was one of the government’s biggest achievements and expressed his gratitude to all those involved in the project and announced that Leisang village in Manipur was the last one to get access to electricity last week.

Referring to the Smart City project, he said the Modi government has not completed a single project.
