The Bharatiya Janata Party was left red-faced when national president Amit Shah made a faux pas at a press conference in Davangere on Tuesday. He said the erstwhile government headed by his own party State unit president B.S. Yeddyurappa was the most corrupt government in the history of Karnataka.
Referring to the row over Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wearing a costly wristwatch, Mr. Shah in a slip of the tongue took the name of Mr. Yeddyurappa instead of Mr. Siddaramaiah.
Mr. Yeddyurappa who was seated beside Mr. Shah, was caught unawares. It was only when Pralhad Joshi, Dharwad MP, who was seated next to Mr. Shah brought the mistake to his notice that the latter corrected the statement.
The faux pas was immediately picked up by Mr. Siddaramaiah who tweeted: “Shah of lies finally speaks the truth.”
