PM will not speak a word about situation in Doklam: Rahul Gandhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not talk about the situation in Doklam during his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his two-day informal summit in China, said AICC president Rahul Gandhi here on Friday.

Addressing a public meeting at a ground on B.C. Road in the communally sensitive Bantwal Assembly constituency, Mr. Gandhi said, “I will give it in writing, our Prime Minister will not speak a word about presence of Chinese troopss in Doklam (during the two-day summit).”

While criticising Mr. Modi for fielding eight candidates allegedly involved in illegal mining, Mr. Gandhi said the BJP does not have any moral right to criticise the Congress government of corruption when they are many in BJP facing charges of corruption. He said the Congress government in Karnataka has fulfilled most of the promises it made in the 2013 campaign. “I assure you all that our government will fulfil all promises we have been made in the manifesto released today (Friday),” he said.

Poojary welcomed

Slogans in favour of senior Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary were raised when he arrived along with Manglauru City South candidate J.R. Lobo. These slogans were raised when CM Siddaramaiah was rendering his speech. When the pitch of the slogans turned high, Mr. Siddaramaiah stopped his speech and asked the people to be silent.

As Mr .Poojary came on stage, Mr. Gandhi got up from his seat to greet him.

Dharmastala

Following his speech in B.C. Road, Mr. Gandhi flew to Dharmastala were he visited the Manjunatha temple. He was accompanied by Mr. Siddaramaiah and Dharmadhikari of Srikshetra Dharmastala Veerendra Heggade. After lunch, Mr. Gandhi proceeded to Gonikoppal in Madikeri district.
