The election to the Jayanagar Assembly constituency has been postponed following the death of B.N. Vijay Kumar, MLA and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate.

An order issued by the Jayanagar Assembly Constituency Returning Officer stated that the election has been postponed until further orders as per Section 52 of the Representation of People Act, 1951, as a candidate of a national party has died.

Vijay Kumar represented the constituency for two terms. This time, he was pitted against Sowmya Reddy, daughter of Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy.
