The Congress lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India against BJP national president Amit Shah on Wednesday for his remarks against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Davangere on Tuesday. Mr. Shah had said that the Karnataka government was “dividing even Hindus, let alone other religions”. In reality, Siddaramaiah is not pro-Ahinda but Ahindu (anti-Hindu).”
In the complaint lodged by V.R. Sudarshan, vice-president, KPCC, he alleged that the remark was a violation of various provisions of the Representation of People’s Act, 1951, and “has the tendency of dividing society on communal lines, which is an offence under Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code.”
