BJP tries to undo damage

With the BJP’s Vision Document for the Delhi Assembly elections describing the people from the northeast as “immigrants,” party leaders, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sought to cap the controversy on Wednesday by admitting its mistake.

Addressing a rally here on the penultimate day of campaigning, Mr. Modi said efforts were on to incite “our brothers and sisters from the northeast” even after the party had accepted its mistake. “Earlier in the day, the BJP put out a press release on “Clarification for printing mistake....” Several party leaders weighed in to assuage the feelings of the people from the northeast.
