The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has rejected Rashtriya Janata Dal’s offer to support each other’s sitting MLAs in the ensuing Assembly elections in the State.

“The RJD approached our leadership on the issue of seat sharing. But how is it possible when there is no alliance?,” JMM general secretary Suprio Bhattacharya said.

When contacted, RJD’s Jharkhand unit spokesman Manoj Kumar said, “Our party has approached the JMM with a request not to field candidates against each other in the seats where the alliance partners have sitting MLAs.”

The JMM, with which the Congress broke its alliance but continues to support the Hemant Soren-led government, has already >announced two lists of candidates and is set to declare its third list on Wednesday.

With a total of 81 seats, Jharkhand is going for five-phase polling beginning on November 25.
