M.D Global Health

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU), Israel. has opened admissions for the four-year M.D. programme with Global Health. The Fall semester will begin on August 1.

Scholarships at Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde , Glasgow, offers a number of scholarships for its Faculty of Engineering applicants joining postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes.

Eligibility: Postgraduate Taught: Applicants should have a 2:1 (or equivalent) in their undergraduate degree.

Deadline: September 9 (for programme in September 2022). For programme in January 2023, it is January 13, 2023.

The university also offers the Dean’s International Excellence Award.

Eligibility: Students are required to demonstrate academic excellence (usually a UK first-class undergraduate degree or international equivalent), and the potential to make a significant contribution to the Strathclyde community during their studies and in their chosen profession upon graduation (assessed by information provided in the scholarship application form).

News from the IITs and IIMs

Abhishek Biswas, Founder of Sattvik Council of India, was the keynote speaker at IIT Pune and IIT Bhubaneswar recently, where he spoke about the role of youth in innovation and technology.

IIM Lucknow Enterprise Incubation Centre (IIML EIC) and Technopark@iitk recently jointly launched a six-month accelerator programme. The last date for receiving applications is April 30.

IIT Kanpur recently signed an MoU with the Anil and Kumud Bansal Foundation to support the establishment of the School of Medical Sciences and Technology at IITK. The school is now being named as Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology.

IIT Guwahati recently partnered with NTPC Limited to design and develop a highly energy-efficient plant for CO2 capture from power plants. This was developed by a research team led by Prof. Bishnupada Mandal, Department of Chemical Engineering.

Researchers from IIT Mandi recently worked towards developing sustainable techniques for soil stabilisation using a harmless bacteria called S. Pasteurii that hydrolyse urea to precipitate calcite. The findings were published in Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Engineering of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)’.The research was led by Kala Venkata Uday, and co-authored by Deepak Mori.

IIMA recently held its held its 57th convocation with 584 students from PGP, PGP-FABM, PGPX, and PhD programmes in graduating. Shubham Goyal, Vaibhav Agarwal and Nitin Kulshreshtha from PGP, and Amit Kumar from PGPX were awarded medals.

Rishihood University recently appointed Shobhit Mathur as its vice chancellor. He was earlier Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean, Rashtram School of Public Leadership.

D-School of Business, powered by Pearl Academy and London School of Business and Finance (LSBF), recently appointed Franco Gandolfi as its Dean. MoUs and partnerships

Cliniminds has signed an agreement with Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, to provide eSkill courses to candidates. Samsung Smart School programme

Samsung recently launched its Samsung Smart School programme at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) schools across the country. It aims to create young leaders of tomorrow by giving less-privileged students in India access to the benefits of digital education and its own transformative innovations. It is being piloted at 10 JNV schools in its first year.

Shiksha Rath launched

Utkarsh Classes recently launched Shiksha Rath: A Digital Classroom on Wheels, which will provide live digital learning experience to students in Rajasthan in the first phase. Through the Utkarsh App, Students from classes 6-12 students will be able to meet and learn in-person when the Shiksha Rath visits their city. It began its journey on April 13 from Jodhpur and will travel to Ramdevra, Rajasthan. In the pilot phase, it will cover the small towns and villages in Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Barmer districts.

Animation Masterclass

Whistling Woods International recently hosted an exclusive session on animation filmmaking with Vaibhav Kumaresh, an Emmy-nominated animation filmmaker and Founder-Director of Vaibhav Studios, for students of School of Animation and Game Design.
