VIJAYAWADA: Models set the stage alight sashaying across the ramp to loud cheers by a select audience at the Samana Institute of Design Studies (SIDS) here on Friday.

Yuvana 2016, a platform created to welcome freshers into the institute fold, set the perfect tone for a two-day boisterous celebrations.

Designed in a way that the festival offers something for everybody, Yuvana saw the young enthusiasts taking active part in a range of activities planned to entertain the crowd and to add to the experience of the young ones. Besides the song and dance saga, the participants displayed oodles of creativity, passion and vibrancy.

Taking a break from their daily curriculum, the students indulged in a fiesta of live music, enchanting and enriching exhibition of craft items they displayed at the venue.

The venue was splashed with craft items, jewellery sets, home furnishing stuff and other lifestyle accessories, all designed and churned out by SIDS students. Yet another side was dotted by lip smacking cuisines such as Italian, Thai, Continental and spicy Indian chat items.

A cultural programme representing all states across the country enthralled the audience. “Since Diwali is a festival of lights, our girls embraced the concept of strutting across the ramp sporting ‘electrifying’ costumes fixed with tiny colourful bulbs. Yuvana 2016 is a blend of education and entertainment that is also the hallmark of SIDS,” said Sheeba Abbas, CEO of SIDS.

Director of Ayush Hospitals K. Rajasekhar graced the occasion. He said events like this were needed to energise students at the beginning of a fresh academic year. SIDS Managing Director Samana Moosavi, faculty members and others participated.
