AVTAR, in association with the British Deputy High Commission, Chennai, has launched the ‘Inspiring Second Career Woman’ (ISCW) award for professionals living across Tamil Nadu who have returned to their careers following a prolonged break.

Companies can nominate women employees who have made a career comeback; have a minimum of five years and a maximum of 15 years of work experience before career breaks; and those who have not worked in the same organisation before their career breaks.

In a press release, Saundarya Rajesh, founder-president of AVTAR Group, says nearly 50% of Indian women take a break in their careers at least once.

A jury comprising eminent industry leaders will evaluate the nominations and choose a winner and two runners-up for the award, says the release. The winners will be felicitated with a trophy and a citation at the Queen’s Birthday Party event hosted by the British Deputy High Commissioner on International Women’s Day, added the release.

Women with second careers can submit their nominations (through the companies that they represent) elaborating on the challenges/constraints that made their comebacks difficult, and their preparedness for comebacks.
