A talent search programme exclusively for B.Sc. III-year students is being organised. The Physics Training and Talent Search 2016 will be held from December 9 to 24 at the Regional Institute of Education (NCERT), Manasagangothri, Mysuru.

The programme will include lectures and tutorials on mechanics and quantum mechanics and a laboratory session on experimental physics. There will also be a session on ‘A career in physics’ and a few lectures on recent and exciting developments in physics.

The classes will be interactive with emphasis on understanding the fundamental principles of the subject. Tutorials will include discussions and solving problems based on the topics discussed in the lectures. Experimental physics course is structured to help students propose and design an experiment.

Fifty B.Sc. (Physics) III-year students will be selected from across the country. The selection criteria includes academic performance at school and college-level and in any standard examination such as NGPE, NTSE or KVPY. A teacher’s recommendation and participation in science-related activities will also count. Candidates will have to write an essay on “Why you wish to be part of this programme.”

Selected candidates would be provided return trip through AC II-Tier train fare from residence/institution to Mysuru. Free boarding and lodging will be provided at the Regional Institute of Education.
