It’s the season to chill out by the sea. Ocean breeze, white sands, beach umbrellas and a quick dip in the sea...you get the picture? But, what happens if you can’t get to the seaside? Well then...just call some friends over, fix a jar of lemonade and enjoy these movies that will bring the beach to you!

Flipper (1996)
A young boy named Sandy, a dolphin called Flipper and a summer spent at the seaside town of Coral Key. That’s what makes the story of Flipper. Sandy meets Flipper when he is spending his summer with his uncle Porter. What was supposed to be a holiday like any other turns into a mission to save Flipper and the ocean from a toxic waste spill.
Surf’s Up (2007)
Surf’s Up is about holding on to your dreams. It is the story of a 17-year old penguin, Cody Maverick, who wants to be a professional surfer. But his dreams are easier to dream than to fulfil. Still, Cody doesn’t abandon them. As a result, even as he learns to surf better, he also learns to be a better penguin.
Free Willy: Escape from Pirate’s Cove (2010)
This will have your heart brimming with orca love. Young Kirra heads to Cape Town for six weeks to live with her grandfather Gus. There, she befriends a young orca whale who has got separated from the rest of its family. As their friendship grows, they also become the stars of the amusement park that Gus owns. But jealousy and foul play by Gus’ rival Rolf turns a boring summer holiday into an adventure of a life time full of perils, unimaginable friendship and a journey home.
Summer Rental (1985)
This one will make you feel right at home on the beach! It’s a movie about the Chester family that goes for a holiday to the Gulf Coast. They rent a lovely house for the month. But, from the word go, things go horribly wrong. Their holiday is just about ruined when the dad makes a bet with a mean sailing champion. If he wins it, their holiday will be saved.
Will he be able to turn the holiday around?
Ponyo (2008)
Get ready to enter a world of magic and wonder with Ponyo. It is the story of a magical gold fish, Ponyo, who turns into a human and befriends a boy named Sōsuke. But her decision spoils the balance of nature and causes a tsunami. The world nearly submerges under water and Sōsuke is given a test by Ponyo’s mother who is the Queen of the Ocean. It is now up to Sōsuke to either save Ponyo or let her turn into sea foam. Will he pass the test or lose his friend forever?
