Portugal defeat Italy 1-0 in Nations League

Andre Silva scored the only goal of the game minutes into the second half as Portugal defeated Italy 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League match played at Lisbon. It means that Italy, who failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, continue to struggle under Roberto Mancini after they were held by Poland 1-1 in their Nations League opener.

In other games, two late goals from Emre Akbaba gave Turkey a stunning 3-2 victory over Sweden. With only minutes left on the clock, Akbaba reversed a 2-1 deficit to 3-2 in Turkey’s favour.

Scotland marked Alex McLeish’s first competitive game in his second spell as manager with a 2-0 win over Albania. Steven Naismith was at the heart of both the goals as he forced the own-goal opener and scored the second.

Kosovo, meanwhile, beat Faroe Islands 2-0 to claim their first-ever competitive victory.
