Warriors score record 51 points in first quarter to rout Nuggets 142-111
The battle of the best in the west turned out to be a one-sided contest as the defending champions Golden State Warriors routed the Denver Nuggets 142-111 to move top of the Western Conference table.
The rout included 31 points each from Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson and also a NBA record 51 points by the Warriors in the first quarter of the game alone.
There was another high-scoring performance on Tuesday night as the Philadelphia 76ers erupted for 83 first-half points in their 149-107 thumping of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Joel Embiid was the star of the show for the 76ers as he notched up his league-leading 37th double-double with 31 points and 13 rebounds.

Defending champions progress to third round at the Australian Open
Double defending champion Roger Federer and women’s defending champion Caroline Wozniacki progressed to the third round at the Australian Open.
While Federer had his task cut out against Dan Evans and had to go through two tie-breakers in his straight sets victory, Wozniacki stormed into the next round with a dominant win over Johanna Larsson.
