Here is a hollow cylinder — nothing out of the ordinary.
Can you see anything inside? No? Okay, now watch...
Abracadabra! Here’s a ribbon being pulled out of the empty cylinder!
Make magic
Materials:
Two sheets of paper of the same colour, glue and scissors.
Step 1: Roll a sheet of paper into a cylinder length-wise. Glue the edge.
Step 2: Roll a second sheet of paper into a cone length-wise. Make sure the wider end of the cone (Side A) is similar to the diameter of the first cylinder. And the narrow end should have a coin-size opening (Side B).
Step 3: Insert the cone into the first cylinder till it fits and cut off the part that protrudes out. Now there is a hidden layer to your cylinder, which will not show when you point Side A to your audience.
Step 4: Wind a lengthy piece of ribbon around the narrow end of the cone, inside the cylinder such that it stays hidden from the outside. After showing your “empty” cylinder to the audience (point Side A at them), hold the cylinder with Side B up and pull out the ribbon — almost like magic!
