After the first half ended 1-1 in the much-expected showdown between Bayern Munich and Arsenal, the hosts stepped up their game, scoring four goals in the second half, including three in a spell of ten minutes, to win the first leg of their Champions League last 16 match 5-1.

In the other match on Wednesday, Real Madrid came back from a goal down to defeat Napoli 3-1, a handy lead heading into the second leg of their tie.
