BASKETBALL

Bulls beat Cavs 106-94

In the absence of leading stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, and without a fully fit LeBron James, even defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers are beatable.

Jimmy Butler did just that, scoring 14 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, as the Chicago Bulls defeated the Cavs 106-94.

CRICKET

Proteas pummel Lankans

Kagiso Rabada led the South Africans as they finished off the job in the first session of day four in the second Test, dismissing Sri Lanka for 224 in their second innings to win the match by 282 runs.

Rabada picked up 10 for 92 and was declared Man of the Match, as the Proteas took an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the series.

Australia firmly in control

In a rain-shortened day when Younis Khan became the first batsman to have scored hundreds in 11 different countries, hosts Australia still hold all the aces.

With wickets tumbling around centurion Younis, Pakistan were 271 for 8 at the end of day three, still trailing Australia’s first innings score by 267 runs.

FOOTBALL

Tottenhan end Chelsea’s 13-match winning streak

Tottenham Hotspur stopped visiting Chelsea from achieving the record of 14 consecutive wins in England’s top-flight of football as they beat them 2-0, courtesy of two identical goals from Dele Alli.

Christian Eriksen was the provider on both occasions, delivering crosses into the box that were headed in perfectly by Alli.

TENNIS

Cornet to face Muguruza in Brisbane semis

Alize Cornet defeated second-seeded Dominika Cibulkova 6-3, 7-5 and will be up against French Open champions Garbine Muguruza, who beat Svetlana Kuznetsova 7-5, 6-4, in the semi-finals of the Brisbane International.

In the men’s section of the tournament, defending champion Milos Raonic progressed to the quarterfinals after a 6-3, 6-2 win over Diego Schwartzma.
