The Himachal Pradesh-based public sector company, Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam has paid a dividend of Rs.280 crore to the Government of India, which is holding 64.5 per cent equity in the company.
SJVN had declared a total dividend of Rs.434.35 crore for 2014-15, which is the highest paid so far.
An Amount of Rs.168 crore has already been paid to as an interim dividend and the cheque for the remaining amount of Rs.112 crore as final dividend is now released.
Last year, SJVN paid a total dividend of Rs.405.39 crore, said a company spokesman.
The dividend cheque was handed over to the Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goel by Chairman of SJVN, Ramesh Narain Misra at New Delhi in the presence of Secretary Power and other officials.
Capacity additionIn 2014-15, SJVN succeeded in adding generation capacity with commissioning of all the six generating units of 412 MW Rampur Hydro Electric Project in Himachal Pradesh and all the 56 units of 47.6 MW Khirwire Wind Power Project in Maharashtra.
AwardMr. Misra said that unit 5 and unit 2 of SJVN’s 412 MW Rampur Hydro Electric Project respectively had been awarded with ‘Gold Shield’ and ‘Silver Shield’ by the Ministry of Power, Government of India in the category of ‘Early Completion of Hydro Projects for the year 2013-14, which is a matter of pride for the company.
He also informed that SJVN had recorded a profit after tax of Rs.1,676.75 crore against Rs.1,114.63 crore in last financial year, an increase of 50.4 per cent.
