Siemens Gamesa, Elgi and 2 others bag Deming Prize

Companies implemented total quality management

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd., Elgi Equipments Ltd along with two other Indian firms have won the prestigious Deming Prize for 2019 for implementing total quality management (TQM).

The Deming Prize is one of the highest global awards on TQM, being awarded by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) to firms that have demonstrated exceptional performance through TQM. The award ceremony will be held at Tokyo on November 6.

Siemens Gamesa had bagged the award for its industrial operations covering all of its four manufacturing units and other support functions in India, the firm said in a statement.

Elgi is the first globally established, industrial air compressor manufacturer, outside of Japan, to win the prestigious award in over 60 years, said the company in a statement.

Leading industrialist Venu Srinivasan, CMD, TVS Motor Co. Ltd, was awarded the Deming Distinguished Service Award For Dissemination and Promotion Overseas, JUSE said.

The other two Indian firms are: JSW Steel Ltd’s Salem Works and L&T’s Electrical & Automation IC, Product SBG, Electrical Standard Products SBU, New Product Development.
