Mobile network connections in India registered a 2.29% monthly growth rate in March 2018, the highest in the past year, according to TRAI data released on Wednesday.

There are now 1,183 million connections, amounting to 92 mobile connections for every 100 inhabitants in the country.

Reliance Jio saw the steepest monthly rise, adding 9.4 million new connections from Feb-March 2018. Aircel, which had earlier filed for bankruptcy, lost 4.7 million existing connections as consumers switched over to other networks or stopped using their Aircel SIMs.

The first chart below shows the rise in monthly connections over the past financial year, while the second shows the market share of the top players in the telecom market in March 2018.
