Nuance to increase headcount

Nuance Transcription Services (NTS), which is a part of the U.S-based Nuance Communications, plans to increase its employee strength in India by 3,000 in the next 18 months. Shailendra Sharma, Vice-President of NTS Operations, told presspersons here on Monday that the company would invest $7.5 million during the next 18 months to strengthen its infrastructure in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai and Coimbatore. Nearly one-fourth of the investment would be in Coimbatore, where the company has about 500 employees now. It will add 1,000 medical language specialists and quality controllers to Coimbatore operations in the next one-and-a-half years.

Medical transcription sector in India had seen tremendous growth in the last five years, he said. It would continue to grow for Nuance, he added.

The company now has about 4,500 employees in India.
