Sugar stocks rally

The surge was due to the government's approval of interest-free loan to sugar mills.

Sugar stocks rallied intra-day on Wednesday accompanied by huge volume as the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved interest-free loan worth Rs 6,000 crore to the sugar sector.

Notable gainers on the BSE were: Sakthi Sugar (13.99 per cent); Bannariamman Sugar (6.80 per cent); Bajaj Hindustan (13 per cent); Balrampur Chini (5.5 per cent); Dharani Sugars (5.83 per cent), EID Parry 5.68 per cent; and Andhra Sugar (6.7 per cent).
