Gold rises by ₹170 on jewellers’ buying, silver jumps ₹910

Gold prices rise by ₹170 to ₹35,670 per 10 gram; Silver jumped ₹910 to ₹41,100 per kg

Gold prices on July 18 rose by ₹170 to ₹35,670 per 10 gram in the national capital, while silver zoomed ₹910 to ₹41,100 per kg on positive overseas trend and fresh buying by industrial units and coin makers, according to the All India Sarafa Association.

Despite gold losing steam overseas, the precious metal saw upward trend due to rise in domestic demand, traders said.

Globally, spot gold was trading lower at $1,422 an ounce in New York, while silver was up at $16.17 an ounce.

In the national capital, gold of 99.9% and 99.5% purity gained ₹170 to ₹35,670 and ₹35,500 per 10 gram, respectively.

Sovereign gold held steady at ₹27,400 per eight gram.

On July 17, the precious metal declined by ₹70 to ₹35,500 per 10 gram, while silver was up by ₹660 to ₹40,190 per kg.

Silver ready on July 18 jumped ₹910 to ₹41,100 per kg, while weekly-based delivery surged ₹1,009 to ₹40,406 per kg.

Price of silver coins held flat at ₹81,000 for buying and ₹82,000 for selling of 100 pieces.
