Sensex down 86 points in afternoon

A key index of Indian equities markets, which opened lower Monday, was trading 86 points down in the afternoon, compared to its previous close.

At 1.55 p.m., the sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 16,185.26 points, was 85.78 points or 0.53 per cent lower at 16,178.52 points.

Around the same time, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was in the negative terrain at 4,802.15 points, down 0.57 per cent.

Broader market indices were showing mixed results, with the BSE midcap index trading 0.01 per cent lower, while the BSE small-cap index was 0.33 per cent higher.
