Rupee was trading 3 paise higher at Rs 44.29 per dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange in the morning today, supported by a higher opening in the stock market and dollar’s weakness against other currencies.

It had appreciated by 16 paise to close at over one-week high of Rs 44.32/33 per dollar in yesterday’s session on strong equities and fresh capital inflows.

Forex dealers said dollar’s weakness against major currencies, including euro, and a higher opening at the bourses kept the sentiment firm.

The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex today gained 164.51 points, or 0.84 per cent at 19,635.49 in the opening trade.
