Rupee gains 2 paise against dollar in early trade

The rupee appreciated by 2 paise to 45.69 a dollar on Wednesday in early trade in line with other firming Asian currencies.

Dealers said dollar’s weakness against other Asian currencies and increased capital inflows by funds into equities, supported the Indian rupee’s sentiment.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the Indian rupee strengthened by 2 paise to 45.69 a dollar. The rupee had ended 38 paise lower at 45.71/72 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange index Sensex was down by 146 points in early trade.
