Belong, a start-up that helps companies hire talent using technology, said it raised $10 million in series-B funding led by venture capital firm Sequoia Capital India. Existing investor Matrix Partners India also participated. It would use the funds to accelerate product development, expand sales and support operations. It would also hire new talent across engineering, data science, enterprise sales and customer success. Belong said it enabled customers like Cisco, Amazon and Tesco hire talent. The company said that its platform helped businesses discover and target high-fit talent, engage candidates through personalised interactions, and accelerate hiring cycles at scale. “Talented candidates today are overwhelmed by the ‘spray-and-pray’ tactics of traditional recruiting. Not only does it annoy them, but it also leads to poor engagement and conversions for recruiters,” said Vijay Sharma, chief executive of Belong in a statement. An alumnus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, Mr. Sharma founded the firm in 2014 along with Sudheendra Chilappagari, who was his colleague at cloud telephony start-up, Exotel.
