More than 71 lakh taxpayers of VAT, Service Tax and Central Excise have so far activated their accounts on the Goods and Services Tax portal, but only 44 lakh have completed the entire enrolment process, the GST Network said on Thursday.

The GSTN warned that failure to complete the enrolment process will lead to the cancellation of the provisional IDs after three months.

“If you have activated your provisional ID for migrating to GST but have not completed all the enrolment formalities, you may be heading for a dead end at the time of filing GST returns,” the GSTN said in a release.

“Failure to do so will lead to cancellation of the provisional ID after the statutory period of 3 months.”
