French auto major Groupe PSA will start making gear boxes at Hosur from next month onwards for exports, said a senior official.
“So far, we have selected 120 suppliers for making engines and gear boxes in Hosur,” said Thomas Delepoulle, vice-president, purchasing strategy, Groupe PSA. “Initially, we will start making gear boxes, followed by engines.” According to him, the group has a capacity to make three lakh gear boxes and two lakh engines per annum.
On Thursday, over 250 suppliers attended India Suppliers Summit hosted by the firm. The suppliers would have access to Groupe PSA’s business opportunities worldwide,” said Michelle Wen, executive vice-president, GPSQ, Groupe PSA.
Groupe PSA has two joint venture agreements with CK Birla Group. The first one is with HMFCL for assembling and distributing passenger cars in Tiruvallur and the second one for making power trains at Hosur through Groupe PSA and AVTEC Ltd.
