GoAir CEO Vrieswijk quits

Cornelis Vrieswijk (Cor), the CEO of GoAir has quit. Jeh Wadia, managing director, GoAir, will assume the CEO’s role until a suitable replacement is found.

In a statement on Wednesday, the airline said that at the nominations and remunerations committee meeting held by the board on February 8, Mr. Vrieswijk expressed his desire to step down.

“It is unfortunate that despite best efforts, my family did not shift to India but rather wants me to be back with them in Amsterdam. In the end, my family demands were creating unfair pressure on all the stakeholders,” he was quoted as saying in the statement.

The statement also quoted Mr. Wadia to say that he recognised the deep contribution of Mr. Vrieswijk. “But, at the end of the day, for Mr. Vrieswijk, it was family calling and it was futile to shunt between two continents,” he said.
