Nagpur-based Gangotri Hi-tech Coatings and Paints (GHCP) announced the roll out of five fire-resistant paints in the Southern market.

The paint acts as a retardant for all types of materials, including metals, plastics, wood and chemicals, including acids and alkalis and resist corrosion at high temperatures.

GHCP was founded by Lokman T. Gangotri, the former head of Department of Surface Coating Technology, LIT Nagpur.

“The need of the hour is to come out with fire-retardant paints. Currently, we are producing 10 tonnes of paints per day and we have the capability to scale it up. We are also exporting our paints to Taiwan. In the next few months, we will export to Gulf Cooperation Council and Sri Lanka,” he said.

Longer shelf life

“When compared with the existing products in the market, these paints have a shelf life of five years and are priced at the same level,” he said

“Though, we have received several certifications for this product, we are yet to patent it. Several leading automobile firms, paint companies, defence and railways have expressed their desire to partner with us,” he said.
