SkodaAuto India on Tuesday introduced the new version of its premium sedan Laura and announced plans to launch a new sedan car by the end of this year. Priced at Rs.15.49-lakh, Laura RS comes with 1.8 litre petrol engine that gives a mileage of 13.4 km a litre.

“The new Laura RS offers both power-packed performance and sporty elegance. With its superior technology aimed at car enthusiasts, the new Laura RS is an epitome of performance, aesthetic design, safety and comfort all packaged in one vehicle. The Laura has a huge fan following in India,” said SkodaAuto India Marketing Head Tarun Jha. The refined sedan was specifically meant for “Laura lovers” and hence the company was not looking for big sales numbers from this car, he added.

Laura RS takes inspiration for design and performance directly from the racetrack. Sporty ‘ Alcantara' leather seats with lateral support, while a three-spoke leather steering wheel with a six-speed manual transmission continues to combine with high-performance with style and safety, Mr. Jha said.

Talking about the future plan of the fully owned subsidiary of SkodaAuto of the Czech Republic, which is also part of the Volkswagen Group, Mr. Jha said they would launch a new sedan based on the Fabia platform both petrol and diesel variants by the end of 2011.
