Parry Nutraceuticals, a division of EID Parry (India), a global leader in micro algae based nutritional supplements, has entered the over the counter (OTC) market with the launch of two premium protein drinks Pro 9 and Pro9D under the Parry’s brand.
Launching the product, Sajiv K Menon, Business head, Bio and Nutraceuticals,told presspersons here, said the company would focus on the business of natural products for human wellness through dietary supplements and functional foods. The company harness the goodness of nature backed by technology in cultivation, extraction, formulation and bio-delivery and product stabilisation. The company is exporting ingredients to over 38 countries including the U.S. EU and Japan. It has three facility in Tamil Nadu and two in Maharashtra.
Its U.S subsidiary, Valensa, offers innovative formulations with a variety of ingredients including spirulina, astaxanthin, saw palmetto, krill oil and vegetable source Omega 3 fatty acids. It has recently launched a product for joint health.
Initially, the company plans to consolidate in the southern market, mainly in metros and tier-I towns and cities and plans to expand PAN India in a phased manner, Mr. Menon said. It plans to launch 25 formulations over three years. The ingredients division is involved in making organic spirulina, lycopene, fenugreek fibre, lutein, beta carotene, asta oleoresin and herbal extracts. On thebrande products, besides protein drinks, plans to product immunity pills, weight management, joint mobility, cholesterol management, diabetic supplement and stress management.
The PRO9 and PRO9D are launched in the high protein category for the adulent segment. Pro 9 is a high protein energy supplement. It enriched with antioxidants and 21 vital vitamins and minerals which regulate body metabolism. The PRO9-D enriched with fenugreek soluble fibre as protein energy supplement for diabetics.
Parry Parry Nutraceuticals has independent research and development centre at Thiruvottriyur, near hennai for the OTC initiative.
The OTC range will have three sub-categories active care, targeting general health and wellness, Health Care, focusing on specific health conditions such as diabetes, mellitus, liver disease and immunity and body care, targeting the cosmeceutical segment.
