Anil Ambani Group company Reliance Animation and the West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation have tied up to create an academy that will provide training to aspiring animation students to hone their skills in this field of technology-led creativity. The move is part of the State Government's plans to emerge as an animation hub.

Under this arrangement, the State would provide two floors besides providing infrastructure like computer hardware.

An allocation of around Rs.4 crore had been provided towards this, a senior official in the State IT department said.

“The West Bengal Government sees the setting up of a state-of-the-art media and entertainment academy as the first of a series of measures to turn the State into a hub for creation of digital entertainment content by local and overseas companies,'' the official said.

“The opening of this academy will add more workforce to the existing talent pool and is obviously an important step towards the creation of appropriate resource to bring media and entertainment industries in the State,'' West Bengal IT Minister Debesh Das said.
