Sundram Fasteners net up

Sundram Fasteners has achieved a net profit after tax of Rs. 35.90 crore for the half-year ended September 30, 2009, against Rs. 22.02 crore in the same period in the previous year, an increase of 63 per cent.

Sales and other income were lower at Rs. 615.13 crore against Rs. 752.58 crore. Export sales accounted for Rs. 141.73 crore (Rs. 233.64 crore).

Domestic sales, net of excise duties, were Rs. 472.44 crore against Rs. 518.03 crore due to decline in demand.

The gross profit was Rs. 88.79 crore against Rs. 112.93 crore. Exchange fluctuations on foreign currency loans resulted in a gain of Rs. 3.91 crore against a loss of Rs. 40.20 crore.
