Raj Petro to produce speciality lubricants

The Rs.850 crore Raj Petro Specialities, a closely held flagship company of Raj Group is planning a major expansion to focus more on high speciality lubricants having wider applications. The company has a comprehensive range of products — transformer and white oils, petroleum jellies, process oils, grease and automotive lubricants. Raj Petro has created an integrated lubricant facility at Manali, near Chennai for producing ONWO (called OneWorld) range of speciality lubricants to cater to the food, pharmaceutical, chemical and heavy engineering industries.

Addressing a press conference, J. Bhatia, Senior Business Advisor, of Raj Petro Specialities, said the ONWO range of speciality products would include food grade and high performance greases and oils, maintenance products and specialities, developed in technical liaison with the U.K. based company, Proventus, specialising in high performance industrial lubricants. The company also plans to produce ultra high performance premium products.

Amit Nanavati, Director, said that the company so far invested about Rs. 100 crore, met mainly out of internal resources, on new units that are located at Manali, Chennai, Silvassa and Ankleshwar and on research and development activities. The company plans to expand further by creating another unit at Ennore near Chennai.
