Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications (RCom) on Friday said that it exited BWA auction a week back after bid prices overshot its estimates.

“RCom exited BWA spectrum auction as auction prices significantly exceeded business case estimates,” an RCom spokesperson said.

The government has raised over Rs 38,300 crore from the 16-day long auction for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum, which closed on Friday.

RCom, which offers both CDMA and GSM services, will focus on providing broadband wireless through its 3G-ready pan-India CDMA network, he added.

The company has won licences for 3G services in 13 circles out of the 22 telecom circles in the country.

The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group company said it may continue to evaluate WiMAX opportunities on case-by-case basis in India and other geographies.
