NIIT University appoints new President, to focus on research

NIIT University, a not-for-profit organisation sponsored by IT trainer NIIT, today said senior researcher Rajeev Shorey has been appointed as the President of the institution.

In his new role, Shorey would be responsible for the overall functioning of NIIT University (NU), its founder Rajendra Pawar said.

“Shorey’s appointment is in line with our aim to promote research. India has to generate new ideas and concepts.

Without research we cannot develop,” Pawar said.

Prior to NIIT, Shorey worked with General Motors, IBM Research Laboratory and SASKEN Technologies.

“Research in any discipline is the key to success. To ignite the passion in research and academia, we at NU will partner with private research labs in the country, besides having industry collaboration,” Shorey said.

NIIT university would offer PhD programmes, MTech and BTech in computer science and engineering and educational technology.
