My Home Industries (MHIL), a 50:50 joint venture with CRH plc of Ireland, a leader in building materials, is planning to increase its cement production capacity to 10 million tonnes in the next three to four years from 4.7 million tonnes, as part of its expansion scheme, according to J. Rameswara Rao, Chairman and Managing Director.
Mr. Rao, who was here on Monday in connection with the dealers’ meet, told this correspondent that the company witnessed a ‘continuous growth’ since 1998, the first year of operation. The company, which had three manufacturing units at Mellacheruvu in Nalgonda district in Andhra Pradesh, was at present producing 3.20 million tonnes of cement annually.
The CMD said the company, which has interests in power and construction sectors, was marketing ‘Maha’ and ‘Maha Shakthi’ cement brands and these two brands were enjoying high acceptance with projects and bulk users in the South.
He said to meet the increasing demand for cement, MHIL recently commissioned a cement grinding unit (fourth unit) at Mulakalapalli in Visakhapatnam with a capacity of 1.50 million tonnes of cement annually. The Rs. 250 crore outlay on this project was met entirely with internal resources.
The expansion scheme included setting up of greenfield and brownfield projects at the existing site, de-bottlenecking and acquisitions.
The company made a profit of Rs. 360 crore on a turnover of Rs. 1,200 crore in the year ended March 31, 2009.
