Lancor committed to green initiatives

Lancor Holdings, a well known name in property development, has asserted that henceforth all its upcoming residential projects will be green rated.

Mallika Ravi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Lancor, reiterated that Lancor was committed to green initiatives. “Going forward, Lancor will comply with green standards in all its project developments, including residential ones,” she added.

She was addressing a function got up here to award Platinum rating to ‘Menon Eternity', an IT (information technology)-cum-commercial project of Lancor in Alwarpet in the city. Menon Eternity, it is claimed, is the first in South India and third in the country to be accredited with Platinum rating by the U.S. Green Building Council under the Core and Shell category. In an informal interaction with presspersons, R. V. Shekar, Managing Director of Lancor Holdings, said Lancor was contemplating a slew of residential projects in and around the city. In this context, he said Lancor would put up residential projects in Nanganallur, Valasarvakkam (in Chennai) and Guduvanchery (near Maraimalai Nagar). It would be a 62-apartment project in Nanganallur and 90-apartment one in Valasarvakkam. The Guduvanchery project would also include a component exclusively for senior citizens, he said. Lancor also was planning to beef up its presence on the GST (Grand Southern Trunk) Road and OMR by putting up additional residential projects — one each in these two locations. Besides these plans for residential space, Lancor, he said, was also planning a couple of commercial projects — one each at Usman Road and Old Mahabhalipuram Road. Mr. Shekar said Lancor had internal generation worth around Rs.100 crore.

Menon Eternity has a photovoltaic system and a sewage treatment plant. Less fresh water use and eco-friendly towards allotment of parking slots have all helped Menon Eternity get the Platinum rating.
