FieldFresh Foods unit on stream

A fully automated food processing and beverages unit was unveiled here.

The 50:50 joint venture by the telecom major Bharti Enterprises and the Philippines-based Del Monte Pacific is located on a sprawling 21.4 acre plot.

Addressing a press conference, after inaugurating the facility recently, Bharti Enterprises Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Rakesh Mittal said: “The inauguration of the new facility, involving an investment of Rs.115 crore, heralds a new phase of development for Del Monte brand in the processed food and beverages category in India.”

The unit aims to create new benchmarks. Culinary products such as ketchups, sauces, mustard sauce and mayonnaise will be turned out in the factory.

Apart from this, 300 cans of fruit drinks and 200 PET bottles per minute and over four tonnes per hour of culinary products would be produced.

The unit will also have the packaging capabilities in squeezy, glass and flexible pack options.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Del Monte Pacific, Joselito D. Campos Jr, said the plant and equipment were fully integrated and highly automated. The products will remain untouched by human hands during the entire production process.

The Chief Operating Officer of FieldFresh Foods, Sanjay Nandrajog, said taking the brand promise of Del Monte, Taste. Like Never Before, forward this facility would house a research and development facility, online laboratory and automated monitoring systems. Del Monte products would be available in 30 cities in the first phase and later would be expanded to other cities and towns, he said.
