German luxury car-maker Audi on Friday reported an over three-fold jump in sales in India during March to 681 units.

The company had sold 220 units in the same month last year, Audi India said in a statement.

In the first three months of this year, Audi sold 1,611 cars, up 107 per cent compared to the January-March period of 2010, at 778 cars.

“Having already exceeded half of last year’s sales in a single quarter, we are confident of being well on our way to ensure that 2011 is the most successful year for Audi India,” Audi India head Michael Perschke said.

The company has an aggressive product expansion strategy for the country this year. “Some of the drivers for this year would be the dynamic Audi A7 and the sporty Audi A6, which will take Audi to the next level in the limousine segment,” he said.
