‘Govt. got alarmed by Gujarat poll results’

The Shiv Sena, an ally of the ruling National Democratic Alliance, said on Friday that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had merely repackaged old schemes in the Union Budget.

“The focus on the rural sector is a clear indication that the BJP-led government was alarmed by the Gujarat poll results and realised that the rural population was moving away from it,” said an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamana on Friday. The actual implementation of the Budget would be a real test for the government, it said.
