Scorpions at work

Don’t lose heart when you come across people who emanate negative energy, cheers Jagdish Joshi in ‘Dare to Design Your Life’ (www.wonderlandbooks.co.in). In your everyday work-life, you will find more than one scorpion, which will sting you even if you try to be good and helpful, he observes.

“For, such people do not know that you are someone with good intentions. But the challenge here is not to be bogged down with such incidents and to continue working at your own pace.”

Never get let down by the fact that your good work is not being deciphered by other people, Joshi says. “Understand, you embody positive energy; and according to the law of physics, where there is positive energy, negative energy has to exist as well. Only then will the balance of nature be continued.”

Being good also means that you will have to cross more obstacles than anyone else, because an honest and true person will always face crises, he informs. “People who may be friends today can become foes tomorrow, because you may refrain from doing anything that is against your principles.”

Think beyond the obvious, exhorts the title of one of the chapters in the book. Quite often, we give up on problems that we think are beyond our scope, rues Joshi. “We reject any chance of solving the problem without even taking stock of it… But the fact is, if we decide that we have to find a solution, we eventually will. It’s just a matter of thinking on your feet.”

Start thinking of the unthinkable, he advises. “Many a time, we are stuck with just one thought process at a time. Crossing that barrier becomes tough for us.” Rather than remain stuck, begin writing down all the possible answers and evaluating them, the author suggests. “And with each answer, also write down the allied aspects so that it becomes easy to chalk out the answer.”

Helpful takeaways.
