British carmaker Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. has identified South India as a growth area for increasing the sales of its luxury cars, according to a top official.
Increasing appetite for super luxury goods and growing number of entrepreneurs in the region is making South India an attractive destination for the company, he said.
“We have significant market in Asia-Pacific. South India is the biggest growing region for Rolls-Royce. It is positive for us,” said Sven J. Ritter, Regional Sales Manager, South Asia, Rolls-Royce.
Briefing the media after the roll out of its super-luxury convertible Dawn in Chennai, Mr. Ritter said, “Globally, the average age of our customers for new products is between 54 and 46 years. In India, we see young people getting attracted to the brand. In New Delhi, we had a customer who is 20 years old.”
According to Paul Harris, Asia Pacific Regional Director, South India continues to be a very important area for Rolls-Royce as it is an economic growth driver for India and an increasingly vibrant market for super-luxury goods.
About Dawn, Mr. Ritter said it is a four-seater convertible and priced at Rs.6.25 crore. It came in six colours. It has been introduced in India after Phantom, Ghost and Wraith. Dawn is powered by 6.6 litre twin-turbocharged v12 petrol engine.
