New India Assurance introduced a mediclaim policy for a sum insured of ₹15 lakh to ₹1 crore. The premium for the ₹1 crore policy, for an individual aged between 21–25, will be ₹45,521 plus taxes,said G.Srinivasan, chairman-cum-managing director. On the performance for the first nine months of the current fiscal, Mr.Srinivasan said the insurer posted profit after tax of ₹455 crore, a decline of 38% over the same period last year. Higher claims in segments like health and fire insurance resulted in lower profits.
