ZTEsoft, the software arm of Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE, is aiming to double revenues from India to Rs.500 crore in the current year.

“The new Government’s outlook seems very positive and it has shown great faith in Chinese counterparts. We are keen to work in smart city projects in India,” ZTEsoft CEO (International) Ben Zhou said. He added that ZTEsoft had registered revenues of Rs.250 crore in 2014 and the company was confident of doubling its revenue to Rs.500 crore this year.

Mr. Ben said “We have participated in 40 smart cities across the world, including 10 in China. We are ready to invest Rs.500 crore over the next five years to help the government in its target of setting up 100 smart cities in India,” he added.

The amount will be invested in ramping up its workforce in India, delivery operations and local facilities.

The company currently employs about 80 people in India across various roles such as research and development, sales and delivery.
